Ann Marie Marschke (Lugert), 59, passed away surrounded by her family on January 8, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center. Ann was born on April 25, 1960 in Hankinson, ND to Frederick (Fritz) and Fern Lugert. She grew up on the family farm located just outside of Lidgerwood. As a farm kid, she kept busy helping the family around the farm with chores and riding horse with her sister, Linda. She enjoyed growing up with many cousins in the area and venturing around the country with her best friend Barbe. Ann attended Lidgerwood High School, where she graduated in 1978. Ann was an avid softball player as she went on to play during her first year of college at NDSU. She graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Ann met her future husband, Kent, at a birthday party where they coincidentally were in attendance because of a chain of friends. They were married three years later on August 13, 1988 and began their life together in Fargo. Shortly after, they moved to Casselton where they still live today. After a few years of working in the trust department at First International, Ann decided to stay home with her kids and ran a daycare in her home for 15+ years. Ann loved serving others, including each of her daycare kids. Her passion to help others pushed her to begin working at NDSU’s Memorial Union where she could continue to work with young adults and show her Bison pride.
Ann loved life, whether it was spending time with good friends, cheering on the Bison, being at the lake, cycling, drinking a glass of wine, or reading a good book. She was a wonderful mother that made sure her kids had every opportunity. She was a charismatic person, always available to help out if asked. Ann will be sorely missed by many people that were lucky to have their lives touched by her.
Ann is survived by her husband Kent, and two children; Jordan Marschke (fiance Megan Strese) (Fargo, ND) and Kirsten Marschke (Minneapolis, MN). Sister, Linda Nelson (Mantador, ND) and brother, Richard Lugert (Lidgerwood, ND). Ann had many cousins and nieces/nephews that she valued.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Fern Lugert along with three siblings that did not survive infancy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12 at 4-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, with an hour visitation available beforehand. Both services will be held at St Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton.
