Allan Skramstad Obituary

   Allan Skramstad, 73, of West Fargo, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

  Allan Skramstad was born August 17, 1946, in Sharon, ND, the son of Gene and Edna (Olson) Skramstad.  He was raised in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School in 1965. Al entered the U.S. Army earning the rank of first Lieutenant.  He married Merron Kay Camden, March 14, 1969 in Kaiserslautern, Germany.  Following discharge from the Army, they returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area while he attended Moorhead State University, graduating with a degree in accounting in 1973.  Since 1985, he had been a Certified Flight Instructor.  He was active in the North Dakota Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and served as commander. He taught at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks from 1991 until he retired in 2008 as an Associate Professor Emeritus of Aviation. While at UND, he was the flying team coach earning 2 national championships. He earned his Master in Business Administration at UND. In 2010, Al earned the title of Master Instructor Emeritus by the international accrediting authority of Master Instructions, LLC. After retiring from UND, Al owned a small business, AIMS, which conducted aviation training, served on the West Fargo School Board and worked part-time as an office manager at St. James UCC in Barnesville, MN.  Along with his family, he spent many summers at their lake home on Star Lake, MN. As a life member of RMEF, he looked forward to his annual hunting trip to Malta, MN.

  Preceding Allan in death were his parents Gene and Edna, a daughter, Shannon Nicole and his mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Clarence Camden.

  Left to share in his memory are his wife,  Merron Kay of West Fargo;  daughters,  Tracy (David) Drake of Bloomington, MN and Lisa (Eric) Cook of Lakeville, MN;  a son,  Scott (Dao) Skramstad of Burnsville, MN;  grandchildren:  Samuel and Lucas Eide,  Emma and Sofi Cook,  Isabella and Ava Skramstad;  step-grandchildren:  Daniel (Katie) Drake,  Spencer Drake, Seth and Lyla Yang;  siblings:  Dennis (RoseMary) Skramstad of Henderson, NV,  Sheryl (Mac) Magruder of  Lake Havasu City, AZ and Bradley (Cindy) Skramstad of Kalispell, MT;  sister-in-law:  Diane (Don) Henninger of Omaha, NE;  an uncle, Milton (Aggie) Olson of Fargo, ND; nieces: Shelli (Neil) Sittler and Ashlee Skramstad; and nephews: Mark (Sara) Henninger, Jon (Kris) Skramstad, Erik (Heather), and Cody (Hillary) Hatton.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Hope Lutheran Church Foundation in Fargo.

Memorial Service:  10:30 a.m.  Friday, September 6, 2019, at Hope Lutheran Church - North Campus in Fargo.

Visitation:  An hour prior to the service.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota
