Alice Timmerman

Alice B. Timmerman, 93, of West Fargo, ND, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Sheyenne Crossings. 

Alice Wilhelm was born November 22, 1924, in Fargo, ND, to Albert and Hattie Wilhelm.  She grew up in Arthur, ND, completed high school there and attended Dakota Business College, Fargo, where she won a national handwriting award.  She worked as secretary/bookkeeper at Arthur Mercantile.  She later attended and graduated from Josef’s School of Hair Design, Fargo, and in addition, served on the ND Hairdresser’s Association as a state officer.  She was a stylist at Alice’s Coiffeurs, Fargo, for 17 years and continued as a hairdresser for many years in Arizona.  She was church organist at St. John Lutheran Church, Arthur, for over 20 years and continued to play music her entire life.

On June 23, 1946, she married Henry Timmerman and they had 2 children, Joy and Paul.  She and Henry moved to Mesa, AZ, in 1970.  They spent their summers in MN at their lake home.  Henry died in 1994, and Alice returned to ND in 2013 to be closer to family and friends. 

Alice was an avid basketball fan who followed NBA, WNBA and college games, and over the years had belonged to a hiking club, bowling league and was a church volunteer.  She bought and rode her own jet ski when in her 70’s to everyone’s amazement.  She was easily recognizable with her carrot red hair. 

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry and brother Elmer.

She is survived by daughter Joy (Kevin) Reski, Fargo; and son Paul (Glenda) Timmerman, West Fargo; two grandchildren, Tana (Kazu) Kawahara, Japan and Gar (Amanda) Haugo, Loveland, CO; and two great grandchildren, Tatum and Colt.

FUNERAL SERVICE:   11AM Friday, September 28, 2018, in West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center, West Fargo, with Visitation held one hour prior to her service.

FINAL RESTING PLACE:   National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ
