Wallace Westrick

Wallace (Wally) John Westrick, 68, of Fargo, died on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fargo, ND surrounded by his loving family.   He was born on May 3, 1948, in Fargo, ND to John and Vivian (Ellingson) Westrick.  He attended elementary school in Harwood, ND and high school in Argusville, ND.  He attended Mayville State University where he played baseball and football.  He married Donna Walkinshaw on June 21, 1968.  He enlisted in the Air Force that same year and he then served in the North Dakota Air National Guard for a total of 17 years of military service.  He worked various jobs in the grain industry and drove truck for Strata in Fargo, ND before his retirement.  He volunteered for many community activities in Argusville over the years (fire department, school board, Jaycees, Lions and Gardner Legion baseball coach (where he was coach of the year).

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna; children, Leslyn (Scott) Anderson, of Fargo, ND, Chad (Wendy) Westrick and Michael Westrick, both of Harwood, ND; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Tyler, Blake, Alicia and Kelsey; two brothers, Ron Westrick of Vergas, MN and Richard (Janine) Westrick, of Powell, WY; sister-in-law, Karen Westrick of Fargo, ND; mother-in-law, Irene Walkinshaw of Fargo, ND; aunt, Betty Ellingson of Aberdeen, SD; sisters-in-law, Karen (Rich) England, Lynn (John) Scott and Pam Toussaint; brothers-in-law, Roger (Deb) Walkinshaw and Lyle Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Westrick; father-in-law, Everett Walkinshaw; nephew, Shawn Westrick; sister-in-law, Barb Johnson; and brother-in-law, Tom Toussaint.

The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care Nursing Home for the care they provided.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.  

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
