Ron Westrick

Ron G. Westrick, 79, Fargo, ND died on Friday July 21, 2017 at his lake home at Vergas, MN.

Ron was born on February 24, 1938 in Fargo, ND to John and Vivian (Ellingson) Westrick  and grew up on a farm north of Fargo.  He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1955.  He served for 24 years in the Air National Guard as a proud “Happy Hooligan” in the AGE Shop. He married Ruth Engh on December 9, 1961 in Jamestown, ND.  They lived in Fargo where Ron worked at GM Parts Warehouse and Red Owl Warehouse before retiring on May 25, 1999 from his career as a UPS driver of 25 years.

In his younger days, Ron enjoyed many successful years in FM Fastpitch Softball on teams including: Bismarck Tavern, Josef's School of Hair Design and the Sports Bar.  In his later years, Ron enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time as a snowbird in Apache Junction, AZ.  His best times were when he could spend time with family and friends at Sybil Lake.  He was a member of Fargo Legion Post 2, both Fargo and Fergus Falls Elks, Fargo Moose Lodge and Fargo Eagles.

Ron is survived by his four children: Susan (Roger) Lewis, of Fergus Falls, MN, Ron (Brenda) Westrick, Dan (Julie) Westrick and Bill (Carol) Westrick, all of Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren: Zac Lewis, Nick Lewis and Amanda Lewis, Bailee Noriega, Zach Noriega, Sam Westrick, Jacob Westrick, Molly Westrick and Emily Westrick and one great – grandson Ty Lewis.  Other survivors include his brother Richard (Janine) Westrick, of Powell, WY, special friend Mary Lou Knaak, sisters – in - law Karen Westrick and Donna Westrick along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Wally Westrick, nephew Shawn Westrick and special friend Polly McMichael.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND with special sharing time at 7 PM.  Memorial service is Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 10 AM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
