Francis Norman Brorson, 91, Moorhead MN, died Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo ND.

Norman was born to John and Josephine Brorson on December 8th, 1925 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Nora Lutheran Church in Gardner. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1943. Anna and Norman Brorson were united in marriage on September 10, 1949 in Mountain, North Dakota. They lived in Gardner, Edinburg, and Grafton, North Dakota before moving to Grand Forks in 1969.

Norman started his career at Farmers Union Oil in Gardner and then moved to Edinburg to manage the Farmers Union Oil station.  From there they moved to Grafton where he started his career in the farm equipment industry working for Hills Inc.  They moved to Grand Forks in 1969 where he was employed by Hesston Corporation as a regional sales manager. He remained in the farm equipment sales industry until he retired.

In retirement, his son Lon had the privilege of working with Norman for 10 years at New Vision truck accessories.  He very much enjoyed being part of the retail aspect of the business where he would spend many hours with his previous farm clients catching up on old times.

Norman took care of his wife Anna after she moved into a nursing home, never missing a single day with her.  Anna passed away in 2008.

Norman will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his generosity to friends and family, his love of a good card game with his buddies, family gatherings with all the kids and grandkids (especially Christmas), and the interest he showed until the very end in the world around him.  He loved talking politics and giving advice – usually ending with, “but you don’t have to listen to me!”

His last three years were blessed by living in the country with his daughter JoAnn and son-in-law John and joyfully mowing their 8 acres.

Norman is survived by 5 children, Bruce (Sue) Brorson, Alaska, Lon (Jane) Brorson, Grand Forks, JoAnn (John) Miller, Moorhead, Kathy (Jim) Torkelson, Grand Forks, Kent (Kim) Brorson, Duluth, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna, his son Kevin, brother Harold Brorson and sister-in-law Jeanet Brorson .

The family requests that memorials be given to Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner, a congregation that gave him much joy the last years of his life.

Funeral Service:       Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner, ND.
