Marlys Kosir, 84, Fargo, ND died on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Eventide of Fargo with Hospice of the RRV.
Marlys Rosalyn Kosir was born Sept. 3, 1933 at home in Oriska Township, ND to Joseph and Mary (Schwehr) Kohler. She attended elementary school at Oriska and Springvale School. From there, she went to St. Catherines Catholic School for her freshman/sophomore year and finished high school at Tower City, ND. Following graduation, she moved to Fargo where she worked for Fargo National Bank. She returned home to help on the farm. She later worked for Bell Telephone and again for Fargo National Bank. She married Norbert Kosir on July 22, 1954 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska. They raised their eight children on the farm North of Tower City where Marlys enjoyed gardening, cooking, homemakers club, church activities and traveling in the fall after harvest was done. They also enjoyed regular trips to the Eagles and Elks in Valley City. The coffee was always on at the Kosir home as Marlys loved having company. They moved into Tower City in 1996 and to Fargo in 2007. Norbert died Nov. 17, 2014. She moved to Edgewood Vista in 2014.
Marlys is survived by eight children, Nita (Larry) Langer, Mapleton, Tom (Caye) Kosir, Farmington, MN, Jeff (Lori Eichele) Kosir, Fargo, Julie (Darrel) Olson, Fargo, Randy (Kathy) Kosir, Chandler, AZ, Tim (Linda) Kosir, Victoria, MN, Brad (Brenda) Kosir, Fargo and Jamie (Rodney) Steffes, Fargo; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and six siblings, Lyle (Ione) Kohler, Richard (Diane) Kohler, Mary Lynn (Curt) Richman, Elizabeth (Rick) McClaflin, Ron (Linda) Kohler and Robert (Pauline Henry) Kohler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mae; husband, Norbert; and five siblings, Kenneth, Harold, Eileen, JoAnne and Lornie.
Visitation: Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Funeral: Saturday at 1 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior
Burial: St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery, Oriska, ND.
