Marlene Weippert, 85, Fargo, ND died on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.

Marlene Mavis Schmidt was born on July 11, 1932 to Arthur and Lydia (Lutz) Schmidt in Martin, ND. She was raised in Bisbee & Harvey, ND. After high school graduation, she attended Jamestown College from 1950-1953 and completed her teaching degree in 1975 from University of Mary.  On July 11, 1954, Marlene Schmidt married Emil Weippert in Goodrich, ND.

Marlene and Emil lived in various communities including Medina, Chaseley, Steele, Bismarck and Fargo.   She taught school at Benson County School from 1951 to 1952, Towner from 1953-1954, Medina 1954-1955, Steele 1957-1959 and 1969-1990, Chaseley 1960-1963 and Hurdsfield 1963-1966. Marlene retired from Steele Elementary School in 1990 after 32 ½ years of teaching. She always enjoyed her students and connecting with them through the years.

In retirement, Marlene and Emil lived the winter months in Mesa, AZ for 17 years. She enjoyed reading, playing piano in church in Steele and in Arizona, singing and paper tole pictures.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Emil; three children, Tim (Shari), Steven (Renelda) both of Fargo and Paul (Susan) of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Chris (Carrie) Weippert, Nicholas Weippert, Lindsay (William) Gladue and Kimber Weippert; four great  grandchildren, Lydia Weippert, Ella Weippert, Liam Gladue and Nolan Gladue; and a brother, Lloyd (Jan) Schmidt of Springfield, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sheldon (Audrey) Schmidt; and sister, Geraldine (Stuart) Larson.

Funeral:  Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: ND Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
