Marlene Pietsch

Marlene Pietsch, 84, Casselton, ND passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Marlene Jane Pechacek was born August 21, 1932 at Hitterdal, MN to Robert and Rose (Gerner) Pechacek. She graduated from high school there in 1950. She continued her schooling at Interstate Business College in Fargo. Marlene married Leland Pietsch in 1956 in Hitterdal, MN.  They farmed and lived in the Casselton area their entire lives. 

Marlene was the family matriarch. She enjoyed baking, cooking and being a hostess. She also helped with the farm whether driving tractor or combine. She was an active member at Martin's Lutheran Church, served as a 4H Leader and a member of Cynosure Homemakers Club. She was known for her caramel and sweet rolls. Marlene spent many hours making hardanger giving many pieces to family and friends.

Marlene is survived by three daughters, Debra (Paul) Olson, Kindred, ND, Nancy (Paul) Jackson, Blaine, MN and Rachel (Brian) Olson, Maple Grove, MN; seven grandchildren, Emily (Brian) Potter, Michael (Sarah) Olson, Robert (Melissa) Jackson, David (Alyssa) Jackson, Ashley (Josh) Urdahl, Brianna (Brandon) Montgomery and Paige Olson; and eight great grandchildren, Lydia, Maisen, Myah, Maxx, Victoria, Isla, Liam and Ellie.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert; an infant twin sister; and grandson, Lincoln.

Memorials may be directed to Martin's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Assoc.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton.

Funeral: Thursday at 11 AM at Martin's Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. 

Interment: Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard, ND.
