Marie Dooley

Marie M. Dooley, 93, of Casselton, ND, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Marie (Lux) Dooley was born in Everest Township, south of Casselton, ND, on February 8, 1923.  The daughter of Frank and Lena (Scholz) Lux, she attended rural school and graduated from Casselton High School.  After receiving a secondary teaching degree from Valley City State College, Marie taught ten years in Cass County.

Marie married James Dooley, on June 17, 1952 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton. They were the parents of seven children.  The Dooley’s farmed near Wheatland and moved into Casselton in 1975, but continued to farm.

She was active in her church, being a Eucharistic Minister, member of Social Service Concerns and the ladies organization.  Marie was a member of the Harmony Homemakers, Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Casselwood.  James passed away in 1987.

Surviving are her children:  Frank (Pam Hermes) of West Lafayette, IN,  Tom (Deb Kluck) of West Fargo,  Julianne (John) McDougall of Rolla, ND,  Mark (Sandy McCann) of Casselton,  Lorn of Neilton, WA and Patty Kline of Wahpeton, ND;  10 grandchildren;  15 great-grandchildren;  sister:  Margaret (Linus) Kensok of Wheatland, ND and a sister-in-law:  Theresa Dooley of Wheatland.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband:  James;  infant son:  Patrick; parents:  Frank & Lena Lux; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; 3 brothers:  Joe, Francis  and Mannie.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.  Monday, January 16, 2017, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton.  The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery in Casselton.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley,  Community of Care of Cass County or the Casselton Ambulance Service.
