Kenneth Shimota
August 14, 1927 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years OldKenneth Shimota, 89, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his home.
Kenneth was born August 14, 1927 on the Burns farm near Ayr, ND to Lewis L. and Elizabeth Allen (Burns) Shimota. His parents were teachers and lived in many towns and cities. He attended school in Columbia, ND until they moved to Minneapolis where Ken graduated from high school. He went on and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and later a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Ken and Myrtle “Kit” Shimota were married April 16, 1955 in Minneapolis. Ken was employed as a Social Worker in Superior, WI, the prison at Waupun, WI and the state of Wisconsin until his retirement. He then became licensed as a Private Investigator in Wisconsin. The couple then moved to Fargo and were very active in the Republican Party.
Ken enjoyed genealogy and especially working with the stock market, a daily event.
He was devoted to his wife, Kit, rain or shine. Others surviving are sisters-in-law: Molly (Don) Mac Eachern, Barb Thissen and Millie Thissen all of Minneapolis, Mary (Mike) West of Plano, TX; brother-in-law: Christopher (Janet) Thissen of Austin, MN; uncle: Jim Burns of Casselton; cousin: Elaine Burns of Fargo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Phillip, Frank and Herman Thissen.
Funeral services will be Noon Saturday, April 22, 2017, in the Rosewood on Broadway Chapel in Fargo.
