John J. Spiekermeier, 95, West Fargo, formerly of Casselton, died on Thursday, July 06, 2017at Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo.

 

John Joseph Spiekermeier was born on November 17, 1921 at Fargo, ND to John Henry and Elizabeth (Meierotta) Spiekermeier. John was raised and attended grade school at Sheldon, ND and graduated from St. John’s Prep School.  He also attended St. John’s University, both located in Collegeville, MN.  John entered the US Navy on April 28, 1944 and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1946.  John married Dolores Dworschak on September 17, 1946 in Chicago, Ill.  Dolores passed away on November 4, 1991.  John married Marlyss Ries on December 28, 1992.  Marlyss passed away on March 2, 2014.  John worked for Fisher Motor Company, JonDon Implement Inc and Casselton State Bank, all of Casselton.  John was a member of the Casselton Rugg-Heille Post #15 – American Legion and Ries-Kickertz Post #4655 – VFW for over 70 years. 

 

John is survived by his children: Larry (MaryAnn) Spiekermeier, of Plains, MT, Barbara (Gary) Theisen, of Venice, FL, Jerry (Barbara) Spiekermeier, and John (Shannon) Spiekermeier, both of West Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren: Scott Theisen, Sarah Klimek, Mandy Antony, Ryan Spiekermeier, Cody Spiekermeier, Tangy Torgenson, Adam Spiekermeier, Tyler Spiekermeier, Brodey Spiekermeier and McKenna Spiekermeier; 7 great – grandchildren: Taylor Theisen, Grace Klimek, Cora and Logan Antony, Nolan, Grady and Livi Torgenson and sister Mary (Pat) Boyle, of Alice, ND and brother Roy (Anna Mae) Spiekermeier, of Lisbon, ND.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, wives Dolores and Marlyss along with a brother Donald Spiekermeier.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from  5 -7 PM with group sharing 7 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton.  Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11 AM

at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Casselton.
