So sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was a very interesting man. I will miss my Chinese Checker games with him. I didn't win very often but he would always challenge another match if I did.

Please accept my sincere condolences. It was a privilege to get to know Don while working in the Mayville State Foundation. Don was humble yet proud of his service to our country, his dedication as an educator, along with his pride of and service to his alma mater. Thanks for the memories Don. God Bless You.

Dear Dennis and other family members,
It was with sadness I learned of Don's passing. He spent a lot of time at the farmstead where he grew up just walking and thinking. When I was working in the fields west of the yard I would see that white shirt and I knew Don had come out from Hunter for his walk. Later he would drive slowly by on his way to Galesburg to have lunch and catch up on the news. I enjoyed many a long discussion with Don if I drove through the yard and stopped. He told stories of his military service but the ones I liked the best were about teaching geography. In later years I would see that orange flag waving above his scooter on the streets of Arthur and know I was about to enjoy some more commentary. The times I visited him in Mayville though the joy of living had left him. I'm going to miss our visits. I apologize for not being able to be at his funeral but Becky and I are headed to Montana on Tuesday morning.
Remembering Don with fondness and hoping you find comfort for your sorrow.
