Dennis Streifel

     Dennis J. Streifel, 80, Fargo, ND died  Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

     Dennis John Streifel was born April 8, 1937 at Maddock, ND, to Thomas and Helen (Burkhard) Streifel.  He was raised in the Esmond, ND area and graduated from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock.  Dennis and Alice Nordholm were married March 14, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fargo.  He worked as a carpenter for many years first at Meineke-Johnson, then for 19 years with T.F. Powers.  He later owned and operated his own contracting company.  Dennis then worked as a forklift operator for Stone Container until his retirement.

     He enjoyed hunting ducks, fishing, bowling and his grandchildren.  Dennis will be remembered for his gentle and laid back demeanor.

     Grateful for having shared in his life, wife:  Alice of Fargo;  children:  Kevin (Velvet) Streifel of West Fargo,  Kary Kasin of Veneta, OR and Kelly Streifel of Fargo;  six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters:  Richard (Trude) Streifel of Green Bay, WI,  Norman (Alice) Streifel of Williston, ND,  Alvina Mehlhoff of Bismarck, ND,  Evelyn (Roger) Iverson of Minot, ND,  Robert (Rachel) Streifel of Woodbury, MN,  Sharon (Lynn) Fischer of Surprise, AZ,  Yvonne (Brian) Holm-Pederson, Moorhead, MN and Leon (Dawn) Streifel of Fargo;  a number of nieces and nephews.

     Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; son:  Kent; and a brother:  Clement Streifel.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday, January 12,  2018 at West Funeral Home in West Fargo with visitation an hour prior.

Burial:  Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Wolverton, MN
