Carol Prien

Carol Ann (Huether) Prien, 55, passed away peacefully in her home in Fargo, ND on the morning of Sunday, June 25th, 2017. After her perfect day surrounded by family, she was freed from her journey with breast cancer.

Carol, daughter of Melvin and Ardina (Schoenfish) Huether, was born on September 9th, 1961 in Parkston, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp, SD. It was there that her faith and love of music developed by singing and playing the piano and organ in church with her siblings. She graduated from Tripp High School in 1979.

Carol married Henry Prien on May 26th, 1979. They lived in Yankton, SD until 1990 and then moved to Fargo, ND. From this union, she was gifted her three greatest treasures, her children Jeremy, Jonathan, and Jenna. She was raised to have a deep love for family and being a mom was what she loved the most. When she was promoted to grandma, her life blossomed. Bryer, Aspyn, Mason, Lloyd, Melody, William, and Macy were the light in her eyes and the beam in her smile. In 2011, Carol met the true love of her life, Roger Larson. She looked forward to each day with a new outlook because she had him by her side.

Carol held various positions in the dental field, most recently as the Office Manager for Dr. Kent Spriggs. She was always passionate about her work and formed meaningful relationships with all of her coworkers. The past 11 years, she truly loved her job and spoke frequently of her appreciation for the Spriggs family.

While family was the primary focus of her life, her faith is what pulled her through life’s many challenges. Carol was constantly surrounded by people whose lives she impacted-simply stated, she was always busy! Everyone who had the opportunity of knowing and loving Carol was richly blessed. She is a woman with a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Carol is survived by her children Jeremy (Karly) Prien, Horace, ND, Jonathan (Alisah) Prien, Amenia, ND, Jenna (Brady) Meyers, Fargo, ND, friend Roger Larson, Fargo, ND, 7 grandchildren, parents Melvin and Ardina Huether, Tripp, SD, siblings Dennis (Glenda) Huether, Omaha, NE, Mary (Tim) Tiede, Parkston, SD, Jan (Craig) Sedlacek, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece Teresa Huether, Tripp, SD.

Visitation: Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Funeral: Friday at 10:30 AM at Olivet Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Friedens Reformed Cemetery, Tripp, SD.

The family has a variety of plans for honoring Carol with any memorials given. They will share over time in hopes of letting Carol's legacy impact many things that were important to her.
