Anita Sackman

Anita Sackman, 96 of West Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Anita was born on November 5, 1920 in Tuttle, ND to Jacob and Margaret (Brekel) Vollmer.  She grew up and graduated from high school in Tuttle.  She married Bert Sackman in 1941 at Fort Lewis, WA.  They were married for 35 years until Bert died in 1977.  Anita worked at the West Fargo VFW as a waitress and banquet hostess until she was 90 years old.  She loved working with all the different people there throughout the years.  She enjoyed working around her house, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert; daughter, Sharon Lee Sackman; brothers, Richard, George, Herbert and Albert Vollmer and sister, Alma Wahl .

Anita is survived by her daughters, Anita Louise (Daniel Hlebechuk) of Fargo, Rita Kaye Goodwill of Fargo and Deborah Lynn Thompson of West Fargo; 3 grandchildren, Stacy Lee Goodwill (Dan) Raymond of West Fargo, Shawn Thompson of Fargo and Kristin Thompson of Denver, CO and 3 great-grandchildren, Grant Raymond of West Fargo, Jessica Thompson of Park Rapids, MN and Jennifer Thompson of Fargo.

Funeral Service:   Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1 pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment:   Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
